The GridRival team has been hard at work preparing the game for an exciting season! Here's a list of the major updates we've made.

๐Ÿšจ MAKE SURE TO UPDATE TO THE NEWEST VERSION OF THE GRIDRIVAL APP IN THE APP OR PLAY STORE! ๐Ÿšจ

USABILITY UPDATES

  • Performance!ย
First and foremost, we focused on the performance, speed, and stability of the app. We've rewritten much of our existing front-end code that was sluggish and caused many issues with user experience. You will notice quicker transitions when moving from screen to screen, faster loading times, and fewer error messages.

  • League Rollover
This year, when you come back, your leagues from last year should be ready to go. You won't need to create a new league or invite previous players back (but definitely invite new ones!) Any users who don't return with an active lineup after the first race will be automatically removed.

  • League Chat
We improved League Chat and moved away from the drawer at the bottom that we could never seem to get positioned correctly on 100% of devices. Chat is now full-screen, and you will notice significant improvements in performance and stability.ย

  • League Invite links
Last year we had many issues with the configuration of deferred deep links that have been resolved. Inviting friends with your league invite link should be smooth!

  • Lobby Search
We improved the search feature in the leagues lobby to make it easier to find any public leagues you might be searching for.

  • Talent Driver Selection Issues

We've made major upgrades to the process of selecting and retaining a talent driver.

    • Previously, when a user had a full roster and made a change, the talent driver was deselected due to the rules requiring a full roster to be in place to take advantage of the talent driver option. With the update, your Talent Driver will never be deselected, but you simply won't earn double points if you don't have a full roster.
      โ€‹

    • We've also made updates to the talent driver warning bar on the My Team screen to make the current status of your team's eligibility to earn double points for your Talent Driver clearer.

  • Game Rule Clarity for New Players
Let's face it: not every new player reads the full rules. We've added several dismissable modals in parts of the game to ensure new users are aware of things like the "1-race Rule" and can easily find the Game Guide.

  • Improvement Point Clarity
Many users had mentioned that it was difficult to accurately predict Improvement Points because the driver's 8-race Average Finish position was not posted anywhere. We now show that number on every driver's profile page.

  • Pre-Season Leaderboard
We previously had a separate leaderboard that was displayed prior to the start of the season, which became confusing and was also not working properly. We now show the full leaderboard out the gate to avoid confusion.

GAME & RULES CHANGES

  • Sprint Race Points
For F1 leagues, we added coverage for Sprint Race points in 2024. See the league's scoring section to make sure you know how they're tallied. You should be able to see a breakdown of Sprint race points in your league tools a few weeks prior to the start of the season. Until then, you can see them here:

  • Minimum Points
To lessen the pain of forgetting to set a lineup for the week, every fantasy team in an F1 league will now earn a minimum of 650 points if they forget to fill out a lineup.

  • Manual points
The first of many "Commissioner Control" projects we have planned for 2024 is the ability for the league admin to manually assign points to users when the league agrees it might be necessary.
    โ€‹
We make it very clear in the interface that abusing this feature will result in losing ownership of a league for the admin. In addition, every user in the league can see a "Change Log" of any change the Admin makes, and all changes will be automatically posted to the league's chat. Any user whose points are manually adjusted will no longer appear on the global leaderboard.

  • NASCAR Fantasy Matchups

The NASCAR matchups game remains the same with the exception of one change: lockdown will now occur just before the race every weekend rather than practice.

NASCAR!

We've added NASCAR leagues for the first time! NASCAR Cup fans can now enjoy GridRival's contract game with custom scoring for NASCAR. Welcome, NASCAR fans!

PAID CONTESTS

  • Pick 'Em
In the United States, we have launched our new "Pick Em" game to the public after several months of beta testing at the end of the last season. Pick 'Em allows players to make "over-under" or "head-to-head" driver match-up predictions and win up to 20x their entry fee if they get them right.

  • Guaranteed Daily Fantasy Contests

We will also be launching large prize pools and weekly tournaments for each event that will run no matter how many people enter them (the "guaranteed" part.) In addition to being guaranteed, they will also be the first Daily Fantasy Contests we have in which players can submit multiple entries.

For those in the UK, we are targeting a launch of these products in May/June of this year.

MOTOGP TO RETURN IN 2025

We're taking a season off from hosting MotoGP leagues. Expect a return in 2025.

We're excited to have accomplished so much and can't wait to keep rolling out exciting updates during the season!
