Salary Adjustment Details

Below is a detailed breakdown of exactly how salary adjustments are made. It's worth noting that you do NOT need to have a detailed understanding of how salaries fluctuate to have fun playing GridRival. We've spent countless hours refining these formulas (and will continue to make adjustments when necessary) to ensure they are fair and correlate closely to an element's fantasy performance from race to race.

For the data-obsessed scientists, engineers, and mathematicians out there, here is a detailed breakdown of exactly how driver salaries are determined. 😀

Step 1:

After each event, we rank elements according to the fantasy points they've earned during the event.

Step 2:

We then compare this ranking to our “default salary table” (shown below) to determine the "base salary variation." Salary variation is the difference between a driver or constructor's salary before the race, to the salary associated with their fantasy rank after the race using the salary shown on the "default salary table" below. For example, if a driver's salary prior to a race was £8.0M and their fantasy rank for that race was 14th (£10.9M on the default salary table), the base salary variation would be +£2.9M.

Step 3:

Finally, we divide the base salary variation by 4 and round down to the nearest 100k to determine the final adjustment amount. The maximum increase is +/- £2M for drivers, +/- £3M for constructors and the minimum adjustment is +/- £100k for both.

  3. Default salary for 8th place (based on default salary table): £21.1M

  4. Salary variation between steps #1 & #3: +£5.3M

  5. Adjustment amount: (+£5.3M / 4) = +£1.3

  6. New Salary after Round 5 (#1 + #5): +£17.1

All elements will start the season with a manually calculated starting salary based on the previous season's performance, pre-season testing, and/or projected performance.
